Good start to the new race year

Sven Straehle with a good first race

Sven Straehle and Fabian Eder were at the start of the Shimano Super Cup in Banyoles on the last weekend in February. The first race of the year is of course for orientation and is not contested as a big highlight or with special preparation. Nevertheless, it's important to test form and see where you stand early in the year. After one week of training in Spain for Sven, about 2 weeks for Fabi, the preparation for the race was not optimal either, but as already described, the race is to be seen more as training and not like an important competition. Already on Saturday the young Töginger Fabian Eder was allowed to go on the little technically demanding course in Banyoles. As a test race for the upcoming World Cup and as a HC endowed race, some of the world's best riders started in Banyoles. From the beginning on the rather flat course it was a real challenge, the pace was high and Fabian Eder was able to work his way up from the fifth row into the top 15 at the start of the second lap. Over the entire race, the Töginger could drive a good pace, although the tops were still missing. "It was difficult for me to keep the groups today, I was already struggling on the rather flat course. Nevertheless, I am satisfied and can look with confidence to the next weeks." In the end, Fabian Eder was able to finish in a good 20th place. Sven Strähle was allowed to race in the elite race on Sunday at noon. With many top athletes from all over the world, the goal was to finish in the top 40. Sven Strähle got off to a good start and was already in 40th place after the start. Lap after lap, Sven made up ground and was able to break through into the ranks of the top 25, holding his own and keeping up with established riders from some of the top teams. The journey is still long and the first World Cup is only about 2 months away, yet Sven Straehle's performance was already very promising. "It went well today, I was able to make up places after a good start, without any major complications, and I was able to bite. A constant race was the goal and I was flirting with the top 25. Nevertheless, I am also satisfied as it is." Sven Strähle finished the race in 28th place in a super strong starting field. That makes you want more. On the weekend 11 - 12 March the first Bundesliga race in Grumbach with an XCC Short Track is coming up and on Sunday the C1 XCO race. The riders of the Cube Next Generation XC will be at the start.
